How many rice cookers do you need?
None if you don’t cook. Seriously, I have a whole bunch of rice cookers. I haven’t counted lately. When I have people over for dinner, I want to spend time with my guests, not slave over a hot stove. I use my rice cookers to make my tasks easier.
My brother and sister-in-law came over for dinner on Sunday. They were dropping their dog, Abby, off for us to dog sit while they took a trip to San Francisco. I don’t get to see just them very often. Usually it’s 8 or 10 people and I don’t get to have a long conversation with anyone, so I was really looking forward to an intimate dinner with them.
Ray likes chicken drumsticks, so I came up with a new recipe. (See recipes on www.sallyskitchen.com/html/recipes.html). The chicken was done when they got there. Jasmine rice was ready in another rice cooker and all I had to do for the veggies was turn the other rice cooker on. And I could enjoy the visit. So I used 3 rice cookers for dinner on Sunday. Cleanup was a breeze.

Oh my, I can’t beleive that people use rice cookers…
Heat the pan with a little oil while you boil the kettle. Pour the rice in with the oils and stir for about 30 seconds then add the boiling water, wait for the water to boil then turn the heat down to simmer with the lid on… perfect rice in 15 minutes… easy…

Of course you can make rice on the stove, but you’d better be there to turn off the flame or you will have a burned pan or a fire. For busy people like me who want to put the rice, or anything else, on to cook and walk away, a rice cooker is the perfect appliance
