The Glorious Peanut Butter Sandwich Sally Strackbein www.SallysKitchen.com
When I was little, I hated mayonnaise and I hated tomatoes. When my mother made bacon. lettuce and tomato sandwiches, I had a bacon, lettuce and peanut butter sandwich.
I was grown up for a long time before I knew that you were supposed to put the peanut butter on one slice of bread and the jelly on the other. I always spread the jelly right on top of the peanut butter.
If you really want a treat, you can grill them, just like you’d grill a grilled cheese sandwich.
Spread butter or mayonnaise on both side of the bread (outside). Put the sandwiches in the rice cooker. Turn it on to cook. When the cooker turns itself down
to warm, turn the sandwiches. Turn the cooker back on to cook, if it will let you. Don’t worry if it won’t. The residual heat will cook the sandwiches. They
won’t get quite as brown as in a skillet on the stove, but it’s close.
Here are some variations:
- Peanut butter and banana
- Peanut butter and marshmallow creme
- Peanut butter and bacon or bacon bits
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Peanut butter and sliced apple
- Peanut butter and chocolate chips
